The mission of the Heard Museum is to educate people about the art, heritage and life ways of the Indigenous people of the Americas, with an emphasis on American Indian tribes of the Southwest.

Lowery Begay (Navajo) is a crowd favorite at the Heard Museum World Champion Hoop Dance Contest. This event is held yearly at the Heard Museum in Phoenix.
